The Lumintop IYP365 is a penlight powered by two AAA batteries. It comes in two versions, Cree XP-G2 (R5) or Nichia 219BT LED. I chose the Nichia version, for its 4000K neutral white with high CRI.
It comes in a nice cardboard box, and includes diffuser, manual, and spare o-rings. The batteries fit snugly inside the tube, so some wider cells might not fit, on the other hand this way they don't rattle. The button is a bit stiff, and I don't always know if I clicked or half-clicked.
Modes
This flashlight has 3 modes, Medium (25 lumens, 25 hours), Low (1.5 lumens, 50 hours), and High (125 lumens, 35 minutes) in this order. The medium mode is the default and has a good balance between brightness and runtime. The high mode is nice to have, although the shorter runtime limits its use. I find the low mode too low to be useful in general, and the order of the modes is not intuitive. I often wonder if I switched the light off or if I just switched it to low.
Conclusion
Pros:
- Inexpensive
- Lightweight
Cons:
- Mode order
- Low is too low for me
Given its small size and weight it's useful as a backup, but I don't recommend it as your main EDC.
